Jazz Congress jazz Congress started out as a group of musicians who did not actually know that they were going to become a jazz Congress.

it all started out with an idea to bring all the musicians that had played with us at the cafe international together.

We started playing at the cafe international back in 1996

Back then we were taking over for another well known saxophone player who was in the area and had been doing the gig for at least two years.

When my brother first took over the gig it was just him and Joe Louis playing.

Topcat as he was known Joe Louis were trying out a new gig in an established neighborhood.

The Lower Haight is an interesting neighborhood to say the least. Most of the families that live in the Lower Haight have lived there for years. Even with the new re-gentrification the families remain.

What we didn't know was that it was going to begin the 20 year journey of Music. When I came to see him the first few weeks it was really fun.Most of the time we spent playing our favorite songs from New York in the old miles ahead ensemble.
